TELL US ABOUT CLEM’S GARDEN?
Clem’s Garden is a volunteer-run social enterprise where we grow and sell organic cut flowers, donating all the profits to the local community. We have a team of about 30 colleagues.
WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES DO YOU USUALLY DO WHEN YOU VOLUNTEER?
Our volunteering had to change when the Covid 19 restrictions came into place. But we’ve kept our beautiful flowers growing, and have looked for ways to share them. We’ve been donating jars of flowers so that local mutual aid volunteers can bring a little bit of cheer to isolated neighbours and so that we can say thank you to NHS staff. Our team has also enjoyed writing to residents in a local nursing home
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT VOLUNTEERING?
“If Covid 19 has taught us anything, it’s the importance of helping and valuing each other, for me, that’s what volunteering is all about.”
There have been wonderful examples of kindness and community spirit; and I hope we can keep them going beyond the crisis and continue to look out for our neighbours”.
