Volunteer Buddy (Huddersfield area) - Inclusive Volunteering

Third Sector Leaders Kirklees is a local charity that supports other charities and not-for-profit organisations across Kirklees. We help organisations who are looking for volunteers and match them with people who are looking to volunteer. We want to make volunteering as accessible as possible to people in Kirklees. We promote high quality volunteering opportunities by sharing good practice and coordinating the Kirklees Volunteering Quality Award. We are a small friendly team working across Kirklees.

    Volunteer Buddy (Huddersfield area) - Inclusive Volunteering
  • About the Volunteer Role
    We are looking for friendly and approachable people to be part of our Inclusive Volunteering programme. You will be supporting volunteers with additional needs to access appropriate volunteering opportunities in the Huddersfield area. You could be supporting a wide range of people including; those with a physical or learning disability, a mental health condition or low in confidence, or someone with English as their second language. You will be volunteering across the South Kirklees depending on where people to chose to volunteer (although we expect most to be in Huddersfield town centre). You will also need to attend regular meetings at our office in Huddersfield. This role will be very varied an interesting, you may be helping people complete an application form to volunteer or accompanying them to their volunteer induction or training session. You may have an additional language skill that you can bring to the role and/or experience of helping people with additional needs. This role is flexible and you can let us know when you are available, (we expect most sessions to take place during the day and on week days). Training will be provided and we will reimburse you for any travel expenses you incur whilst volunteering with us, in line with our expenses policy. We are committed to safeguarding and this role will require a DBS (Criminal Record Check). This is a great opportunity to be involved in a programme that will be making a positive difference to the lives of people in Kirklees. During the COVID restrictions the recruitment and training for this role will take place via video call and the support for volunteers will be mainly over the phone and by video call.
