Volunteer Dementia Group Driver

We are an independant local charity, who aims to reduce isolation and loneliness, and improve quality of life, for local people in Kirklees.  We operate 20 anti-loneliness projects which includes community transport, drop-in centres, social activity groups, dementia groups, and community centres – across Kirklees.  Find out more about us at , @DDCprojects on Facebook and @TimeTogether1 on Twitter, or come and chat with us at one of our bases.  Our growing team of around 100, includes volunteers, work-placements, student-placements and employed staff – all benefit from direct support and training (both online and in person) plus expenses and social activities.

    Volunteer Dementia Group Driver
  • About the Volunteer Role
    Our Valleys Community Transport includes a fleet of accessible minibuses, which we use to support local individuals access our various Dementia Activity Groups in and around Kirklees. Our caring drivers will require a driving license, patience, and be able to collect our fleet parked at depots in Huddersfield or Denby Dale. We provide expenses, training and support for our volunteer team, including refresher training if needed. Drivers may be required to assist passengers with boarding and alighting the vehicles, fastening seatbelts, supporting passengers to their front door. Safeguarding clearance required - we provide a free DBS check, plus personal references. Note, our Dementia groups are based in Kirkburton, Almondbury, Heckmondwike, Huddersfield, Emley. Our members are transported from their homes to the venue for 10am and depart for home at 3pm.
