Shelter – Batley Shop

Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through our advice, support and legal services. And we campaign to make sure that, one day, no one will have to turn to us for help.

We have almost 100 Shelter shops on high streets across the UK, each one selling a fantastic variety of items to raise funds to help fight homelessness.

  • About the Volunteer Role
    Our Shelter Shelter Batley shop simply cannot run without our incredible volunteers. If you’d like to do something valuable with your spare time, while picking up new skills and gaining retail experience, volunteering a few hours in a Shelter shop could be right for you. Volunteer within our Batley shop and gain charity retail experience, enhance your CV, complete an optional NVQ and most of all, help us raise vital funds to support our work. Some of the tasks for this role will be: Supporting our shop manager(s) to increase sales and gift aid. Managing the shop in the shop manager(s) absence. Be a role model to volunteers and assist with training and development. Hold keys to the shop and follow opening and closing procedures. Cashing up and banking. Processing cash and card sales using our till. Representing Shelter and the work we do. Following company policies, including; health & safety, safeguarding and GDPR. Providing excellent customer service. Recruiting, inducting and training volunteers. Previous experience preferred but not essential as full training will be given. 2 References Required (Non-family members). DBS Required for safeguarding purposes. Volunteers will start as a volunteer and a DBS check will be applied for and full training must be completed prior to starting your role as a key holder. Once you've registered your interest, we'll contact you to arrange a suitable time for you to pop in and have a chat, complete the registration form and arrange your trial start date.
