Back-to-school Mentors

Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust supports children and young people facing challenges to their emotional well-being and mental health.  We are a charity and work as part of the Thriving Kirklees Partnership, to support over three thousand local children every year.  Services we provide include telephone support to families and professionals, counselling, mental health support, mentors , family support volunteers, and confidence building group activities to help children grow strong and well.  Young people rate our services 9 out of 10, and they tell us that we have really made a difference to their lives.  Volunteers are highly valued within our organisation, we have the Kirklees Quality Assurance Award, we offer a full training package, and regular supervision and support.

  • About the Volunteer Role
Can you spare 2 or 3 hours a week to encourage, support and inspire young people to feel good about school? We are recruiting now for a short-term, dynamic project that aims to foster confidence and optimism in students who have been out of school due to Covid-19 restrictions and may have mixed feelings about going back. If you are a friendly, outgoing and caring person with a positive attitude towards education, (even if you experienced your fair share of ups and downs at school!), we’d love to hear from you. Recruitment, training and delivery will be online for the foreseeable future, to keep everyone safe. The commitment for this role is 6 months, after which you may decide to stay with us and pursue the youth mentor opportunity.
