    Community Governor
  • About the Volunteer Role

Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It will give you the chance to make a real difference to young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board-level environment. As a Community Governor there is no requirement for you to have children in the school - in fact it is a bonus if you don't! Meetings are held every few months, mostly in the evenings. The ability to visit the school occasionally during school hours would be advantageous and most employers are supportive of their staff being Governors. Full training will be provided at no cost to yourself. You will be joining over a quarter of a million volunteers that govern state funded schools in England.
