We are a charity that cares for 2000 miles of waterways. We believe life is better by water and we’re working with volunteers and communities across England and Wales to transform canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. We know this will bring wellbeing opportunities to millions. Our work involves not only looking after our waterways, but promoting them widely to the eight million plus people who have waterways on their doorstep so that many more people benefit from our free, accessible and local source of wellbeing.
Volunteer Role TitleHuddersfield Towpath Taskforce
About the Volunteer Role
Our friendly group of Volunteers are local to the area and passionate about caring for our canal environment on the Huddersfield Broad Canal. We meet on the second Thursday of every month between 10am and 1pm and are always looking for new members to join the team. Families are welcome, anyone under 16 years of age must be supervised by a parent/guardian.
Volunteer group tasks include:
- planting hedgerows
- tackling problem plants
- painting locks
- and mending towpaths.
Our work aims to help make the waterside a more attractive place for everyone to use and benefit from. This is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people and keep fit. All tools and equipment will be provided, together with expert and friendly support.
