Workday Support: (tbc)
Land immediately behind Penistone Station, between the station buildings and the Trans Pennine Trail.
On site – access is through a small gate leading off the ‘snicket’ between the station car park and the TPT

What will you be doing?
They’ll be continuing work at this wild flower site, where views of the old station buildings are now opening up. They’re working with Penistone Line Partnership, and Penistone Clean and Tidy Team, and with the permission of Network Rail, to create a wild flower reserve on waste land between the TPT and the old station platforms. The aim is to remove the self set trees which cast shade over the whole area, including the Trail, and allow the wild flowers to flourish. Everybody is welcome; there are tasks to suit all levels of interest, muscle-power and skill! If you’ve only an hour or two to spare, that’s fine too. Toilets are available on site.

Parking: Car park adjacent to Penistone Paramount on Shrewsbury Road (see map)

You’ll need to wear… Warm old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or torn, sturdy footwear and gloves – waterproof if it’s wet -to protect your hands.

Do bring… A packed lunch – they’ll provide tea, coffee, fruit juice and biscuits in the morning and afternoon. They do have tools and equipment, but you’re welcome to bring your own (in good condition) if you prefer. Don’t forget the waterproofs!

If you have any questions: have a look at FAQ on the website; send an email, or you’re welcome to ring Kate on 07704333445.
