Day 5: Crackers, potatoes, stuffing!

Christmas-dinner-009-300x180Christmas should be yummy – help make the Denby Dale Centre’s Kirkburton Community Christmas meal the best yet – could you help on the day or donate food?

Cooks, drivers, servers!

Crackers, potatoes, stuffing!

Just some of the ingredients they’re after to make a wonderful day for people who’d otherwise be on their own.

Background
Anyone who is alone on Christmas Day is welcome to come along to this meal. This tends to be older people, but there are no restrictions – all are welcome.

Last year some volunteers brought their young children along (they wanted them to realise there were people less fortunate than them). This was a huge success: the children and the group had a great time, so volunteers with children are very welcome.

Donations of food, drink, crackers or presents for people to unwrap would be very welcome.

Practical Considerations
You’d need to be at The Hub centre in Kirkburton for 11.30am on Christmas Day. The event will wrap up at 3pm.

Volunteers are needed to help with setting up the room, cooking and serving food as well as creating a happy fun-filled atmosphere. Drivers are also needed to help get people to and from the centre.

If you’d like to volunteer please get in touch by the 14th December. Contact Charlei, Time- Together Co-ordinator, Denby Dale Centre

If you can please donate:

  • ingredients for Christmas Meal: stuffing/seasoning, potatoes, meat (any), crackers, custard etc
  • drinks
  • presents (for older people)

In fact anything to make a group meal a warm success.

Drop off at the centre at at Volunteering Kirklees

Finally – there will be a friendly dog at the centre on the day.
