To assist the Cardiac Rehabilitation team to run their exercise and education sessions by:
o Helping to set up and clear away (chairs, tables, exercise equipment, leaflets)
o Meeting & greeting patients on arrival
o Offering and serving refreshments (venue specific)
o Directing patients between the waiting area, nurse consultation room and exercise area

Alleviating anxiety for those patients, especially those who are new, by:
o Offering support and encouragement
o Sharing practical experience (if you are a previous patient)
o Befriending

Completing ‘Friends & Family’ feedback cards with patients after sessions.

This role is currently available at two sites:

Stadium Fitness, Huddersfield & Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

This volunteer role is ideal for people who have previously been a patient of the Cardiac Rehabilitation team, as you will be able to offer genuine understanding and support to patients, especially those who are anxious or nervous about joining the exercise and education programme.

Sessions run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (as detailed below) – volunteers may wish to cover just one session, or may want to overlap sessions and cover two (Mondays). This can be discussed at the informal interview:

o Mondays (Stadium):
 12:00 – 1:30pm (education group)
 1:00 – 3:30pm (exercise group)
o Wednesdays (Huddersfield Royal Infirmary):
 10:30am – 1:00pm (exercise group, followed by education)
o Thursdays (Stadium):
 2:30 – 5:00pm (exercise group)

All our volunteers are required to complete the following eLearning modules during the first 6 weeks of volunteering:

o Safeguarding Adults
o Safeguarding Children
o Fire Safety Awareness
o Health, Safety & Welfare Awareness
o Infection Prevention & Control
o Introduction to Dementia Awareness
o Prevent
o Food Safety Awareness

Locala will arrange for IT access to complete these.

Out of pocket expenses can be reimbursed (43p per mile, public transport fees, car parking fees)
