Share your passion and make someone’s day.
Could you help out at a friendly, hour-long local reading group? Read out loud and help to prompt discussion?
Reading is often seen as a solitary thing to do, but there’s growing evidence that coming together to talk about a story or poem can really help people who are stressed or withdrawn.
A new project in North Kirklees needs volunteers to help create friendly, local reading groups for carers and the people they’re looking after.
“It will be a chance to set aside real life for a short time and get lost
in somebody else’s ideas”
Our volunteers will be given support throughout; you’ll never be on your own as there’s always group leaders. There’s one day of free, fun and informal training to get you going and project workers will check in regularly.
Training: Tuesday 13th September in Huddersfield. 9:30am – 4pm.
