Creatively Connecting Communities – Volunteers

Aspire Huddersfield are looking for Volunteers to help out at their weekly sessions for people over 50 who may be lonely or isolated. As a volunteer you will help set up, greet people, make cups of tea and assist with the activities which are very varied and include arts and crafts, speakers, music, gentle exercise etc.

Sessions run across 4 different venues you  can help out weekly, monthly or as and when you can :

Tuesday mornings at Chestnut Centre, Deighton,

Wednesday mornings at Sandy Mount, Crosland Moor

Thursday mornings at St. John’s Church, Birkby

Friday mornings at Birkby Croft, Birkby.

This role will require references and a DBS check. Training and support provided.

Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled are looking for Volunteers to help groom and harness the ponies and assist with the carriage trips for people with disabilities. Full training is provided, you just need to enjoying being outdoors and be a caring person with an interest in horses.  The stables are based near Flockton.

Support Volunteer for Play Therapy charity

ESCAYP provides counselling and a play therapy service for children and young people aged 3 to 21 years. They are seeking a volunteer to support their Co-ordinator with parts of the referral, information gathering and general admin duties. Owing to the sensitive nature of their work, ESCAYP are looking for someone who has a counselling qualification.  Ideally you will be available on Wednesdays and/or Fridays to help at their base in Gomersal. Crosland Moor Community Learning Centre are running a 3 week training course to help people interested in volunteering in an education setting.

The Essential Skills for a Volunteering Placement course will cover:

Leonard Cheshire Disability seek Volunteers to help with trips to the shops, theatre, church etc.

Leonard Cheshire Disability is a charity supporting disabled people to fulfil their potential and live the lives they chose.

They are seeking Volunteers for their Kenmore House residents in Cleckheaton, particularly for evenings and weekends.

Volunteer Drivers: You will  drive their minibus to activities such as shopping, meals out and community activities. Full training will be provided free of charge and you will need to be 25 years or over for insurance purposes.

Volunteer Escorts/Befrienders: You will help residents attend activities such as the theatre church or shopping.

Both roles require a DBS check which is organised and paid for by the organisation.

Friendly and confident Volunteer to support Cancer Charity

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust is the only UK Charity funding research into the types of cancer affecting teenagers and young adults, They also fund support for teenage cancer patients across 43 hospitals.

The charity is looking for a Lottery Promotion Volunteer to attend fairs, businesses and community events in the Kirklees and Calderdale area.

This is ideal role for someone who likes getting out and about and meeting people.

Suitable for over 18s, own transport would be useful but not essential.
